SpotGamma Integration Workflow: NinjaTrader, TradingView & Bookmap Setup + Failure Checklist

Three Platforms, Three Workflows: Which Integration Fits Your Trading Setup

SpotGamma key levels integrate seamlessly with NinjaTrader, Bookmap CloudNotes, TradingView, and other futures trading platforms. Each platform handles level imports differently—and each can fail silently in ways that leave you with stale levels at market open. The choice between them depends on your execution environment and refresh tolerance.

NinjaTrader is the heaviest setup (requires a custom add-on download) but gives you daily automated updates. TradingView requires manual daily copy-paste into Pine Editor but maintains a visual, adjustable chart experience. Bookmap offers real-time cloud notes that update automatically, making it ideal for intraday level tracking in a ladder/DOM context. No hidden subscription costs exist beyond your SpotGamma Essential or Alpha membership—all integrations are included.

NinjaTrader: Download, Import, Enter URL—Then Never Touch It

Download SpotGamma’s Custom NinjaTrader file loader and do not unzip. From NinjaTrader 8, select Tools → Import_NinjaScript Add-on, select the zip file, acknowledge dialogs. To add to a chart, right-click, select Indicators, find SpotGamma, press Add, then enter the SpotGamma CSV URL in the File URL field.

The “do not unzip” instruction is critical—NinjaTrader expects the compressed file as-is. Unzipping it causes the import to fail silently. Once installed, NinjaTrader levels will automatically update at 3 AM EST daily. This means your levels refresh before the US pre-market session (usually 4:00 AM ET), eliminating the daily manual update burden.

The SpotGamma NinjaTrader level files are changed on the second Sunday of each month, and you will receive email notifications when changes are published. This monthly URL refresh occasionally breaks the integration if you don’t update the indicator settings after receiving the notification email. If you see “file not found” errors on the second or third Sunday of any month, check your email and update the CSV URL.

NinjaTrader Setup Checklist

  • Download SpotGamma file from subscriber portal (do not unzip)
  • Navigate to Tools → Import_NinjaScript Add-on
  • Select the .zip file (compressed)
  • Confirm import completion in dialog boxes
  • Open any chart, right-click → Indicators → find “SpotGamma”
  • Paste your SpotGamma CSV URL into the File URL field (no filename needed)
  • Confirm levels appear by 3:15 AM EST (allow up to 15 minutes after 3 AM for update completion)
  • Set a calendar reminder for the second Sunday of each month to watch for email notifications about URL changes

TradingView: Manual Daily Copy-Paste Into Pine Editor

TradingView levels automatically update at 3 AM EST daily—but only after you perform a manual setup once, then a daily copy-paste step.

Initial setup is one-time: Download the .txt file from your SpotGamma portal, copy all text, open Pine Editor in TradingView, delete existing code, paste SpotGamma code, save with a custom name, and add to your chart. The SpotGamma TradingView level URLs are changed on the second Sunday of each month, however you will receive email notifications when changes are published.

The daily workflow is where TradingView diverges from NinjaTrader. Each morning, visit your SpotGamma portal, open the “Daily Key Levels SPX” pop-up, copy all levels between the date and “SGI Imp,” then paste them into the config box in TradingView. This manual step means you can verify the levels visually before they land on your chart—a transparency advantage—but it also introduces human error if you skip a day or paste into the wrong column.

TradingView integrations do not layer real-time HIRO indicator signals into charting. HIRO updates in real time throughout the trading day as options trades are processed and their hedging impact is calculated, but only within the SpotGamma web dashboard or Bookmap—not in TradingView’s Pine script layer.

TradingView Daily Workflow

  • 3:00–3:15 AM EST: Visit https://spotgamma.com/portal/ and open “Daily Key Levels SPX”
  • Copy all text between the date and “SGI Imp”
  • Open TradingView, navigate to your SpotGamma chart
  • Click the config gear icon
  • Paste copied levels into the “SG Text” box
  • Click “Ok” to confirm
  • For SPX, NDX, RUT use Column 1; for ES, NQ, RTY use Column 2
  • Visually verify that at least 4–5 levels appear on your chart (gaps indicate paste errors)

Bookmap CloudNotes: Real-Time, Automatic, Ladder-Native

Bookmap can show SpotGamma levels directly in a column in the form of cloud notes, such as combos, Zero Gamma, and the Volatility Trigger. These show up and update automatically right inside Bookmap.

Unlike NinjaTrader (which updates at 3 AM) and TradingView (manual daily entry), Bookmap integrations are truly set-and-forget. Once installed, levels will be automatically updated at 3 AM EST daily—the same timing as other platforms—but the real advantage is intraday. SpotGamma in partnership with Bookmap launched the HIRO Indicator: the Hedging Impact of Real-Time Options, which means you can layer real-time options hedging flow directly on your ladder alongside key levels.

Setup: Right-click on a column in Bookmap → Column > Notes > Cloud Notes. Paste the SpotGamma CloudNotes URL into the CloudNotes box. If you trade ES, NQ, and/or RUT, you’ll need to install each level’s URL separately. The SpotGamma Bookmap CloudNote level URLs are changed on the second Sunday of each month, however you will receive email notifications when changes are published.

Bookmap CloudNotes Setup

  • In Bookmap, right-click any empty column → Column > Notes > Cloud Notes
  • Paste your SpotGamma CloudNotes URL (from subscriber portal) into the CloudNotes input box
  • Confirm the URL format contains no trailing spaces
  • Verify at least 2 cloud note colors (combos, zero gamma, or volatility triggers) appear in the column header
  • For multi-contract setup (ES, NQ, RUT), repeat steps 1–2 for each contract’s dedicated URL
  • Confirm levels persist after next 3 AM EST refresh

When Integration Breaks: Diagnostic Checklist

Stale or missing levels before market open indicate one of five root causes. Use this checklist to identify and fix the issue in under 5 minutes.

1. Monthly URL Rotation (Most Common)

Symptom: Levels disappear or show “file not found” error on days immediately after the second Sunday of the month.

Root Cause: SpotGamma rotates URL endpoints monthly for security. Your indicator is still trying to fetch from the old URL.

Fix:

  • Check your email for a SpotGamma notification titled “Integration URLs Updated” (sent around day 14 of each month).
  • Log into your SpotGamma subscriber portal and re-copy your integration URL.
  • In NinjaTrader: Select the SpotGamma indicator on your chart → Edit → paste the new URL → click OK.
  • In TradingView: No action needed—the auto-update at 3 AM will pull from the current URL.
  • In Bookmap: Right-click the column with cloud notes → Edit → paste the new URL.

2. CSV/File Format Mismatch

Symptom: In NinjaTrader, levels appear but are at incorrect prices (e.g., 5,000 instead of 5,005). In TradingView, paste operation returns “invalid syntax” or levels don’t render.

Root Cause: You downloaded the wrong file format (e.g., .txt instead of .csv for NinjaTrader, or copied the wrong text block in TradingView).

Fix:

  • In NinjaTrader: Download the .zip file directly from https://spotgamma.com/ninjatrader-file-upload/ (not a .csv or .txt). Confirm file size is >100 KB before importing.
  • In TradingView: Ensure you’re copying from the pop-up labeled “Daily Key Levels SPX,” not from the email or dashboard. The email contains outdated formatting.
  • In Bookmap: Confirm the CloudNotes URL does not end with .csv or .txt—it should be a plain endpoint URL from your portal.

3. Time Zone or Clock Offset

Symptom: Levels don’t refresh on time. You check at 3:15 AM EST and see stale (yesterday’s) levels.

Root Cause: Your platform is synced to UTC or a different timezone, delaying the refresh.

Fix:

  • In NinjaTrader: Go to Tools → Options → General → verify your time zone is set to Eastern Time.
  • In TradingView: Confirm your browser system clock shows 3:00 AM EST or later before validating the update.
  • In Bookmap: Restart Bookmap after 3:05 AM to force a fresh cloud-notes fetch. Bookmap does not auto-refresh on a schedule; it pulls on app startup and at defined intervals.

4. Account Authorization or Subscription Lapse

Symptom: All three platforms show no levels or a “401 Unauthorized” error in logs.

Root Cause: Your SpotGamma subscription expired, or your account lost access mid-month.

Fix:

  • Log into your SpotGamma account (https://dashboard.spotgamma.com/login).
  • Confirm your subscription status shows “Active” and the next billing date is in the future.
  • If expired, upgrade or renew from the Pricing page.
  • Re-enter your credentials in any platform that requires authentication (usually TradingView or Bookmap APIs).
  • Allow up to 15 minutes for access to propagate across integrations after renewal.

5. Network or CDN Delay

Symptom: Levels appear 10–30 minutes after 3 AM, or they load partially (some symbols missing).

Root Cause: Your ISP or a CDN edge node is slow to cache the latest level file. This is rare but occurs during market-wide network congestion or Cloudflare outages.

Fix:

  • In NinjaTrader: Manually trigger a refresh by removing the indicator and re-adding it with the same URL (no need to reimport the add-on).
  • In TradingView: Click the config icon and re-paste the levels from your portal; Pine Editor will fetch the fresh version.
  • In Bookmap: Close and reopen the CloudNotes column to force a fetch.
  • If delays persist past 3:30 AM, contact SpotGamma support via https://support.spotgamma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and reference the date and time of the delay.

Verification Workflow: How to Confirm Levels Are Live Before Market Open

Before you place your first trade, run this 2-minute verification to confirm your integration is synced and ready.

  1. Check your platform’s timestamp: Open your integrated chart and confirm the level data shows today’s date (not yesterday’s).
  2. Compare against the SpotGamma dashboard: Log into https://dashboard.spotgamma.com and open Equity Hub or Daily Key Levels. Your chart levels should match the dashboard levels within $0.01–$0.05 (rounding is normal).
  3. Verify at least 4 major levels appear: Combo 1, Absolute Gamma, and two support/resistance levels should be visible. If only 1–2 appear, the file/URL is incomplete.
  4. Set a pre-market alert: 15 minutes before market open (9:15 AM ET), refresh your chart once more. Levels should remain unchanged, confirming no intraday recalculation before RTH.
  5. Log the result: Screenshot your levels with a timestamp. If any trade fails due to level accuracy, you can reference this timestamp to debug the root cause.

Which Platform to Choose: Decision Framework

  • Choose NinjaTrader if you trade ES/NQ micro contracts and want zero daily maintenance. The 3 AM auto-refresh handles everything. Trade-off: less visual editing control.
  • Choose TradingView if you want manual control over level colors, opacity, and time-frame scaling, and if you prefer to visually confirm level imports each morning. Trade-off: ~3 minutes of daily setup required.
  • Choose Bookmap if you scalp or day-trade liquid contracts and want real-time HIRO indicators layered on your ladder. Cloud notes update automatically, and HIRO flows are immediate. Trade-off: requires Bookmap (paid software) and higher CPU load.

To access and set up your integration, log into your SpotGamma Essential or Alpha subscription account, where all plans include access to platform integrations.

Summary

SpotGamma integrations are reliable once set up, but each platform’s refresh schedule and format differ. NinjaTrader and TradingView update at 3 AM EST daily; Bookmap does too, but also supports real-time HIRO layer. Monthly URL rotations on the second Sunday are the most common source of breaks—monitor your email and update your URLs immediately after receiving the notification. Use the diagnostic checklist to resolve stale levels in under 5 minutes, and always verify levels match the SpotGamma dashboard before market open. Start with the integration that aligns with your primary execution platform, and add a second integration only after you’ve fully debugged the first.
